Estates in Edina

Local knowledge, a customized plan

Edina grew in two waves you can still read street by street: Country Club and Morningside on one side, and the mid-century neighborhoods around Southdale on the other. That span produces estates full of art, silver, and furniture that deserve the right buyers, and knowing the difference is the whole job.

Miller Estate Solutions is family owned, based in Shoreview, and serves Edina alongside communities across Minnesota, Wisconsin, and the Eastern Dakotas. Scope, timing, and costs go in writing before any work begins.

“When our dad passed away and we had a chance to really look around his place we knew we were in way over our head. Our Aunt suggested we look for an estate service that would come in and do most of the work for us. I researched and found Laura's website. After reading the reviews and seeing everything they would take care of we were sold. Our dad was a collector of many things and we didn't really have any knowledge of any of them. We contacted Laura and she got back to us promptly. I had taken some pictures of his apartment and sent them over to her. She was willing to take us on and that was a HUGE relief. We had recently lost our step-dad and Mom as well and were just completely overwhelmed with the amount of work Dad's apartment was going to require. He had lived there for 30 years. I met Laura at my Dad's apartment and I knew that she was the right person for the job. She has done a really stellar job for us. I can't emphasize enough the relief we felt in handing this job over to her. She literally cleaned every last thing out of the apartment. Some was trash, some was donated, some was placed in consignment and others were sold at auction. We have been extremely pleased with the proceeds we have gotten to date. I HIGHLY recommend Laura and her company. They have done an absolutely amazing job for us. Thank you, Laura & crew!! We are loving your services and have been really pleased with the sales!!”

“Laura was instrumental in our ability to smoothly move our mom across the country this spring. She answered all our (unending) questions with patience and kindness. I am located out of state, so she assessed the house and the scope of work from photographs and then we did a facetime call so we could all "meet" before signing the contract. Her team was efficient, fast, kind and effective during the actual liquidation. She found a few hidden gems amidst the mountains of belongings we were disposing. The detailed statements you receive after liquidation and then the price for items sold are very helpful. It's clear that liquidation is a highly effective way to recoup revenue on belongings in comparison to a traditional estate sale. We more than covered both the cost of the liquidation itself and mom's move across country from the proceeds. Our project included the sale of a very old but low mileage car, which was another bonus! She got way more for it at auction then we would have gotten on our own. I highly recommend Miller Estate Solutions & Services, Inc for anyone looking to downsize.”

“In my 30 years in the business of trusts and estate settlement, I have never been more pleased than I was to work with Laura Miller. I was fortunate to learn about her from a trusted colleague. My prior experience with estate sale companies involved on site sales only. But this is not always a good fit for a family and frankly, does not feel safe or comfortable in many cases. I was involved in a complicated personal property settlement situation where the decedent’s home was filled with items both valuable and unique along with property that would be donated or discarded. It was a daunting task. I contacted Laura for help. After we toured the property with a family member, I was impressed with her knowledge of the contents of the home and also impressed with her compassion for the family’s feelings about their loved one’s possessions. She proposed a plan to organize and sell most possessions off site and then to donate and discard those items of no value. She then organized someone to clean the property and was in and out in 3 days. Afterwards, she provided detailed lists of everything that was removed and gave regular updates as things were sold and sent checks on a periodic basis as proceeds were collected. I know that the family was very grateful for her help. I highly recommend Laura for your estate settlement needs.”

Edina questions

Asked before hiring an estate liquidator in Edina

Do you hold estate sales inside Edina homes?

No, and that is deliberate. We are estate liquidators: the selling happens off-site through vetted venues, so there is no public sale at the house, no crowd in the rooms, and no sign in the yard. Edina families tend to value that privacy.

How fast can you clear an estate in Edina?

A complete liquidation typically runs in days rather than the weeks an on-site sale calendar requires. The customized plan sets the schedule around your closing date or listing timeline before work begins.

Which Edina neighborhoods do you work in?

All of them. Recent work spans Country Club, Morningside, Indian Hills, Parkwood Knolls, and the neighborhoods around Cornelia and Southdale. If the property is in Edina, it is in range of our Shoreview base.

What happens to high-value items from an Edina estate?

They get researched first. Fine art, jewelry, sterling, and collections are placed with the partner auction house or specialist buyer suited to each category, rather than priced for a driveway table.

How much does an estate cleanout cost in Edina?

It depends on volume, access, condition, and timing, and sale proceeds may offset part of the cost. The customized plan states costs, commissions, and payment timing before any work begins, so there are no surprises.

Can an out-of-state executor settle an Edina property remotely?

Yes, and many do. Photos, video, digital signatures, and written updates carry the distance. Several of our Edina projects have been run by family members on either coast.

Who buys an Edina home as-is, with the contents still inside?

Miller Estate Solutions does. The as-is buyout is an all cash offer at fair market value covering the house and everything left in it, with no inspection, no appraisal, and no repairs asked of the family. Closing costs are covered and it can close in as little as seven days. It suits an Edina family who would rather hand over the keys than run a liquidation first.

Where do items go that do not sell from an Edina estate?

Miller Estate Solutions coordinates the donation runs and the disposal, so nothing is left for the family to haul. Items with life left in them go to charitable partners, recyclable material is separated, and the rest is cleared. The house is handed back empty rather than half sorted.

We just lost a parent in Edina and cannot face the house yet. Is it too early to call?

No. Most families call before they feel ready, and that is the right time. Miller Estate Solutions can walk the Edina property, explain the practical paths, and hold the plan until you say go. Nothing has to be sorted or decided before that first conversation.

Our mother is moving into assisted living in Edina. What happens to a lifetime of things?

The move comes first: decide what goes with her, what family members want, and what stays. Miller Estate Solutions then researches and places the rest through off-site channels, coordinates the donations, and clears the home. Moving itself is referred to a mover rather than handled in house.

Our Edina house lists in three weeks. Can the contents be gone by then?

Usually yes. A full clearing typically runs in days rather than the weeks an on-site sale calendar requires, because the selling happens off-site. Miller Estate Solutions schedules Edina projects around the listing or closing date, so tell the team the date on the first call.

The Edina house has fifty years of things in it. Is that too much?

No, and it is the normal case rather than the hard one. Decades of accumulation is what estate liquidators are built for: sorting room by room, pulling out what has value, and clearing the rest without asking the family to pre-sort a single closet.
